Back when Phil was a freshman in college, one of his
Communication professors gave him a very generous compliment
on his voice. Then the floodgates seemed to open. In a very
short amount of time, many people made comments to him about
his voice and how he could use it in a career. Instead of
talking it up some more, Phil began to listen. He started
taking more Communication and Broadcasting courses and was a
DJ for KSMF radio, hosting Jazz and Blues shows. Phil won
the Outstanding Broadcasting Student award during his senior
year in college. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Communication: Broadcasting.
Since 1995, Phil has been working at television stations in
the Northwest. Currently, he is an editor at the ABC
affiliate in Portland, Oregon. Very much into the creative
side of both video and audio production, he has a non-linear
video editing system --along with a professional voice-over
recording studio-- in his house.
Phil is one of two major contributors to a
“documentary-style” book, The Snodgrass Observatory:
Serious Science or Splendiferous Shenanigans?. Shrouded
in secrecy, the book details the lives and the curious,
twisted research of two fledgling soil scientists, Wallace
and Virgillian Snodgrass. When asked for more details, Phil
suddenly lowers his voice. “It’s being shopped to publishers
right now,” he says. “Until then, I simply cannot comment on
it. I’ll leave that to Wally and Virgil.”
In his free time, Phil enjoys exploring the Northwest,
making music, listening to jazz, creating anything clever or
humorous, and reminiscing about the brilliant comedic skits
of Chris Farley.

Voice Over

“All of my life, people have told me that I’ve gone
off the deep end. While I cannot disagree with
their assessment, I must constantly remind them that
the shallow end is for sissies.”
